The Hummingbird is the first collage with which I have had the honor of sharing the remarkable personal story of another. It represents a lifetime of shared memories, joy, comfort and the intersection of past, present and future. This piece was collaborative in nature and my client sent me keepsakes of their own which authentically imbues the piece with meaning. It is a sacred process to utilize the precious items entrusted in my care, some of them vintage and fragile in nature, to create the figure and facilitate the narrative. The connection forged during the process is yet another dimension of the work.
