With this piece, I went back to my graphic design roots and used my old x-acto blade, metal ruler and cutting pad. I trimmed a collection of bus, train and subway tickets from Italy, France, Greece, S. Korea and Japan to form a simple subway tile pattern. The graphic in the center is from a pencil case purchased in S. Korea.
The visual movement is created by the individual personalities and graphics within each ticket. They come together forming a snapshot of a population in motion. This piece is about how vibrant the journey is, not just the destination.
